Atlantic City has been a staple in the gambling community for almost 40 years, and as your resident blogger who's always ready to roll the dice, I bring you the complete guide to Atlantic City. Whether you're part of a bachelor party, birthday party, romantic weekend getaway, or even a weeknight adventure, Atlantic City is sure to please. We've all had a night we'd like to forget down in A.C., but the great memories far outweigh the bad!
Where to Stay (and Play...)
Atlantic City is hurting, or so everyone thinks. With 4 of hotel/casinos closing within the last year, those remaining are actually thriving (operating profit is up over 40%). However, there are only a few places worth staying.
With Revel stuck in bankruptcy proceedings, my go-to is
The Borgata. The Water Club is also a Borgata property, and rooms in both of these towers are very nice. Spacious, luxurious, and comfortable, they have everything from one king-sized bed to a plethora of incredible suites.
Harrah's is also a great place to stay, whether it's with a huge group or just you and your significant other. They have affordable options, but also top of the line suites for special occasions, or if you just want to feel like a high-roller.
Where to Eat
Atlantic City has an incredible selection of highly-rated dining options.
Located in The Quarter at The Tropicana Resort & Casino. I visited The Palm last summer with a group of 22 gentlemen for a friend's bachelor party, and we were all very impressed with this steakhouse. We dined in a private room, the service was great, and the steaks were delicious. I would definitely recommend this option for both regular dinners and larger parties.
Great Italian restaurant located in The Borgata. Enormous wine selection and authentic Italian dishes. Romantic setting that is great for dates, birthdays, anniversaries and any other opportunity to dine out with your significant other.
Located in Caesar's (insert joke from The Hangover), this is a great steakhouse with many different cuts to choose from. If you're not in the mood for steak, they also have seafood and other options. My favorite part about Morton's is when they come to your table with a cart of meat on wheels to show you your options before ordering.
Both Harrah's and The Borgata have incredible buffet options with something for everyone to enjoy. Also, if you're a member of their respective rewards programs, sometimes they offer these buffets for free!
Where to Pool
The Pool at Harrah's is indoors, and you can always count on it being a comfortable 82 degrees inside the dome, with palm trees and a tropical feel. There are an abundance of cabanas surrounding the pool, and there are even blackjack tables on a second level overlooking the pool area. Every Saturday from Memorial Day-Labor Day, DJs hit the pool with the hottest tunes from Noon-7pm.
The Borgata/The Water Club
There are 4 options to choose from, offering both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a lap pool.
The Golden Nugget
If you're looking for the best pool scene during the day while Revel is out of commission, look no further than H2O Pool + Bar Grill at the Golden Nugget. Newly renovated, "the nugget" has become a popular destination for day drinking by the outdoor pool.
Where to Party
Haven @ Golden Nugget
Relatively new to the nightlife scene is Haven at the Golden Nugget, which opened Memorial Day Weekend in 2013. Huge dance floor, great music, and an awesome vibe make this a must on your weekend party list!
The Pool @ Harrah's
Once the sun goes down, The Pool at Harrah's heats up. The cabanas that surround the pool become VIP bottle service tables, and there is plenty of room to dance to the latest and greatest tunes. Just don't end up in the pool (as you can see above)!
