Want to take a vacation focused solely on beer? You're not alone! In 2015, Travelocity surveyed over 1,000 people, 3/4 of which said they wanted to go on a trip to visit craft breweries and sip local brews. With the help of the Brewers Association, Travelocity recently released the first Beer Tourism Index to help these beer fanatics plan their dream vacation.

The company looked at over 300 U.S. Metropolitan Areas, basing the list on four factors essential to a "beercation":

  • Number of breweries & brewpubs per 1 million residents
  • Availability of rideshare services (Uber, Lyft, or both)
  • Number of cities you can get a direct flight from to that area
  • Price of an average hotel room for the 2015 calendar year

The findings were broken into the top large and small metro areas. Did your dream beercation spot make the list? Check it out below:

Top 6 Large Metro Areas

1) Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton, OR-WA

2) Denver-Aurora, CO

3) Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue, WA

4) Portland-South Portland-Biddeford, ME

5) Colorado Springs, CO

6) Santa Rosa-Petaluma, CA

Top 6 Small Metro Areas

1) Bend, OR

2) Boulder, CO

3) Fort Collins-Loveland, CO
