An 11-screen movie theater that will serve gourmet cuisine, cocktails, and a wide variety of craft beer along with eclectic programming is coming to Raleigh! Alamo Drafthouse is currently being built in the Longview Shopping Center on the corner of New Bern Avenue and King Charles Road in east Raleigh. It will show new releases, independent, foreign, and classic films on 35mm projectors and will be complemented by eats, cocktails, and craft brews. Alamo Drafthouse currently has 27 locations across the country.

In November and December, the company expects to hire about 160 people for the Raleigh location, most of them from surrounding neighborhoods. The New York Post recently noted that the Alamo that opened in Brooklyn last October is a prime example of movie theaters looking for new ways to attract crowds at a time when ticket sales have been sluggish. The original plan was to open this location before the close of 2017, but there hasn't been a recent update to the timeline. Stay tuned as we'll provide more info as we receive it!
