Although it's Pi Day, and not Pie Day, what better way to celebrate this play on words than with an indulgent dessert?! Although you can never go wrong with the traditional dessert pie, there are some restaurants and bakeries taking on unique spins on pie that you must try (no this rhyme was not intentional)! Here are your top bakeries and restaurants in Downtown Jersey City to get your Pi(e) on!

Brownstone Diner & Pancake Factory

With a traditional diner menu, Brownstone Diner & Pancake Factory does not disappoint with their pies. With over six choices, you can almost get any type of pie you can dream of! You can even go so far as to make it A La Mode if it's a 'treat yo self' day. {I would recommend the Coconut Custard Pie!} 426 Jersey Ave.

Cocoa Bakery

Cocoa Bakery is the perfect place to go for some pie when you're by yourself (or don't feel like sharing). The personal Banana Cream Pies have a cookie crumb crust and are topped with freshly whipped cream and cocoa powder! The filling is homemade from scratch. I'm drooling just thinking about it! 275 Grand St.

Light Horse Tavern

Light Horse offers a sophisticated atmosphere with delicious foods. One of the most noteworthy desserts on the menu is the Pecan Pie with bourbon ice cream. If nuts are not your thing, you can always stick to the classic Apple Pie, topped with apple honey syrup. 199 Washington St.

Torico Ice Cream

This ice cream shop offers a cool take on pie, Ice Cream Pie. You can order a whole ahead of time or get slices in the shop. All ice cream and pies are made in house, and the pies come in flavors like strawberry, cookies and cream, and cheesecake. You can even get a scoop of your favorite ice cream flavor on the side—now what's better than that? 20 Erie St.

Latham House

Not the typical dessert pie, Latham House's Chicken Pot Pie is one of the best dinner pies around. With a scallion-cheddar biscuit crust you cannot go wrong with this chicken pot pie. It is so flaky and creamy—it's every chicken pot pie lover's dream. 299 Marin Blvd.

SOUTH HOUSE

The TEXAS FRITO PIE: now this is something you'll want to try at least once in your life. Taking a spin on a normal chili, this pie is topped with Fritos Corn Chips and baked to perfection. You will not want to miss out on this staple, but note it is not for the faint of heart. 149 Newark Ave.

Choc-O-Pain

Offering French takes on pie, Choc-O-Pain offers savory and sweet tarts. Although this is a spin on a traditional pie, it does not disappoint in flavor. If you're in the mood for something more like a meal, try a piece of Quiche Lorraine, and if you're in the mood for something sweet, try one of their tarts! 530 Jersey Ave. / 330-332 Palisade Ave.

Porta

Porta makes one of the most unique pies around, the Nutella Pizza Pie. Creating a perfect balance between cookie crust and Nutella, all of your chocolate wishes will come true. This pie is big enough to share, but hey, no shame if you feel like keeping it all for yourself. 135 Newark Ave.

Milk Sugar Love

Allowing some creative liberties, Milk Sugar Love will put all of your pie requests to rest with Lemon Meringue, Apple, Key Lime, and Peach Pie gelato flavors. If you're not in the mood for a real pie or want something creamy with a pie flavor, go to Milk Sugar Love. You can even experiment with different flavors and make your own type of unique pie flavors! 19 McWilliams Pl.

9 Bar Cafe

Although this may not be a pie per say, the Grandma Slice and Mixed Berries Tart here are amazing. Offering something a bit lighter than a pie, but still with a similar taste, these tarts will be your perfect middle ground between deciding if you want to snack on fruit or a pie. 18 Erie St. / 200 Greene St.
