Thrive NC is coming to City Market in Raleigh next week! Raleigh's own award-winning chef Ashley Christensen will headline the festival which is focused around food, culture, and community on May 10th and 11th. Thrive NC will feature more than 30 local restaurants, (mostly from downtown Raleigh). Tickets are $30 a night for unlimited sampling (limited tickets remain), so get yours here!
Dogfish Head will be the featured craft brewer, but local beers will also be featured, including Aviator, Brewery Bhavana, Carolina Brewery, Durham Bull, Lonerider, Trophy, and White Street. Whiskey Kitchen and Tito's Vodka will be mixing up awesome cocktails, and there will also be a nice lineup of wines, including Rosé of course! Musical acts will feature the local flair of Joe Kwon (of The Avett Brothers) and Friends, country singer Kasey Tyndall, and Jump Little Children of South Carolina.
Beyond the eating, Thrive NC's will host an invitation-only summit on May 11th which will include chefs, elected officials, and business & community leaders addressing food issues in North Carolina. Panelists will talk about the role of food as an economic driver in both urban and rural areas, and another panel will discuss childhood hunger and nutrition. The two-day festival will support 8 nonprofits that are working to address childhood nutrition and food insecurity. So come out and eat for a great cause!
John likes to think he is very gifted. His talents include napping, eating sunflower seeds, growing a neckbeard, Ja Rule karaoke, and napping. Recovering from a knee injury, John is currently limited to bar games like shuffleboard, pool, and darts, and accepts all challengers. An avid sports fan, the only thing he enjoys more than attending a game, is the beach. Don't let the knee injury fool you though, he can still get down on the dance floor!
