It's a busy spring weekend in Jersey City, so get a head start on Thursday and end on Sunday (Mother's Day) by checking out some of the festive happenings with your amazing mom!

Thursday, May 10th:

"Pop Culture" Opening Reception at Downtown 234 Gallery

The Downtown 234 Gallery, located in the Historic Arts District in Jersey City, will be featuring works by Andres Maldonado Cortes, a Guatemalan-born mixed-media artist focused on the breakdown of pop culture through digital art. This is a free reception that will run from 6pm-9pm. If you can't make it to the opening, the exhibition will run until June 21st! Flatbread Grill Opening in Journal Square

The Journal Square neighborhood will be welcoming a new Mediterranean restaurant, Flatbread Grill, opening its doors at 10am, complete with giveaways for their new customers! 26 Journal Sq.

Barcade 7th Anniversary Party

Join the celebration on Thursday night as Barcade celebrates its 7 th anniversary. There will be giveaways and kitchen specials, as well as a special tap list featuring rare and vintage kegs! For more information and a list of beers, check out the event page here. 163 Newark Ave.

Friday, May 11th:

Mother's Day Celebration at Hamilton Park

Kick off Mother's Day weekend with an evening celebration in Hamilton Park, from 4pm-7pm. There will be live music, free massages for moms, and tons of other great family-friendly activities! For more information visit the event page here.

Live Salsa Party at Grove Corner Bar

Grove Corner Bar will be housing a Salsa Party on Friday night in their underground club. The night will be filled with salsa and Latin dance music featuring a live orchestra, DJ, and dance lessons. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or tickets can be purchased in advance here. 116 Newark Ave.

Cheese! (and the Wines That Love Them) at CoolVines

One of Jersey City's favorite wine boutiques is hosting a wine and cheese pairing event from 6pm-8pm. Come on out to find that perfect cheese pairing for your favorite wine! 276 Grove St.

Saturday, May 12th:

The Flower Show Artist Talk

Head over to the Smush Gallery for The Flower Show Artist Talk from 4pm-6pm. If you can't make it out for the talk, be sure to head over and check out the show before it closes May 19 th! Check out the gallery site here. 340 Summit Ave.

The Vendors Mixer at Café Sole

Hosted at Café Sole, from 2pm-6pm, there will be a Mother's Day Vendors Mixer promoting and supporting small creative businesses. Join your Mom, or a special lady in your life to check out some local vendors, while enjoying the music, food, and free giveaways! Tickets are $5 and can be purchased here. 496 Communipaw Ave.

3rd Annual Colors of Autism Street Fair

The 3rd Annual Colors of Autism Street Fair will take place on First Street and Jersey Avenue, from noon until 7pm. The goal of the street fair is to raise awareness for Autism, and the event will feature various booths with food vendors, kids' activities, music, and dancing!

Sunday, May 13th:

Brunch at Third and Vine

Spend Mother's Day right and treat your Mom to a classy Sunday brunch at Third and Vine! The downtown restaurant will be open from 11am-3pm. 353 3rd St.

Winard Harper at Moore's Lounge

Famous Jazz drummer and bandleader, Winard Harper, features a new guest Jazz musician at Moore's Lounge every Sunday, followed by a Q&A to find out more about the featured artist's fascinating life and career. No need to go to all the way NYC to enjoy world-class jazz music! 189 Monticello Ave.

Mother's Day 5K

Enjoy the beautiful spring weather this Sunday with a Mother's Day 5K. This is a charity 5K with a twist, organized by Virtual Run Events, you can complete your race anywhere and anytime until the end of May! A portion of each ticket sale goes towards Vitamin Angels, an organization that provides vitamins and minerals to mothers and babies that need them. Find more information and purchase tickets here.
