November means fall is really here, snow is on the way, and it's getting colder…. If only there was something to do to take your mind off of this…. Well look no further! Here is your weekend guide to events during the first weekend of November! Between bars, art shows, and marketplaces, this weekend is one for the books!

Thursday, November 1st:

Jazz Album Release at Fox and Crow

Join Fox and Crow as they celebrate the album release of Abelita Mateus. This Brazilian singer-songwriter is praised by the Jazz community. Her latest album is a duo with Peter Slavov. Join her at Fox and Crow from 8-10pm. 594 Palisade Ave.

JC Oddities Market

JC Oddities market will kick off this weekend for November! This oddities market is a bit different than usual, and geared towards those who want to take their no-shave November to the next level. Take your beard to the next level and get some great deals on beard care products from 3-8pm. 304 Newark Ave.

Comedy Open Mic at Art House

Think your jokes are on point today? Want to try your own routines? Now is your chance. Art House is hosting their bi-monthly Comedy Open Mic Night this Thursday! $5 gets you 5-7 minutes of performance time. 262 17th St.

Dia de los Muertos

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos at Oralé Mexican Kitchen. Join them for their fabulous Thursday happy hour specials and a live DJ. Happy hour runs all night! 341 Grove St.

Friday, November 2nd:

Departed Soles Beer Release

Departed Soles Brewing is releasing a new beer this month, because of course new month, new beer! This second version of "There's More Than One Way to Hop" is a smooth malty base fermented with British ale yeast. Go grab a cold one and start the weekend off right at Departed Soles. 150 Bay St.

FM Musical Event

FM is the place to be for live music, and Friday night is no exception. Friday is '90s night with the Boyfriends and Phil Nastie, brought to you by FM and Rock-it-Docket. Enjoy 2 full sets of '90s hits and one-hit wonders! 340 3rd St.

Trojan Women at The Jersey City Theater Center

The Jersey City Theater Center presents Trojan Women this Friday from 8-9:30pm. This multimedia and multilingual performance is a take on classic Greek tragedy. It highlights "women's strength, wisdom and compassion," so come, be inspired, and enjoy the tragedy. Tickets can be purchased here. 339 Newark Ave.

Saturday, November 3rd:

Bergen Apple Fest

This year marks the first annual Bergen Apple Fest of JC! A local historian will be conducting walking tours concluding at Apple Tree House. The tour is free, you get to taste some of NJ's most popular apples, and buy some of the best local pies and baked goods around. The tour leaves from 71 Sip Ave, and begins at 11:30am. 298 Academy St.

Sherlock Holmes at LSC

LSC is known to put on some pretty fantastic interactive exhibits, and this month is nothing short of fun! Join Liberty Science Center this weekend for the opening of LSC's The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes! Bring out your inner detective on Saturday and Sunday during LSC's normal business hours. 222 Jersey City Blvd.

The Vampire Ball

Who says Halloween needs to end in October? Join the Velvet Rose as they host the Vampire Ball. This event will contain 3 bars, 6 VIP sections, $350 2-bottle specials, and costume prizes. Tickets are $20 before 10 pm, and $30 after. 150 Bay St.

UFC Fight at Paulie's Brickhouse

The UFC Fight is being broadcast at Paulie's Brickhouse this weekend! This JC Heights joint will play the fight and have great drinks on food and beverages. There is a $10 cover, and a $25 minimum on purchases. This event begins at 8pm. 264 Central Ave.

Dia de los Muertos Supper at Harsimus Cemetery

November 3rd also marks celebrations for Dia de los Muertos by the Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery. Explore this traditional Mexican holiday, and enjoy an authentic feast and some local cocktails. This event will embrace and explore these holiday traditions from 5-9pm. 435 Newark Ave.

Sunday, November 4th:

Macramé Wall Hanging + Wine Workshop

Want to learn how to create those macramé wall hangings that you find at all of the home goods stores? Now you can! During this 2-hour class you can learn the ins and outs of macramé, what different types of cords you can use, basic knots of macramé, and how to design your own wall hanging! 3rd Annual Villa Reunion Skate

This Sunday is the 3rd Annual Villa Reunion Skate! Come roll it back to the '70s and '80s with a live DJ and support this awesome fundraiser in memory of the previous owner Francis Packard. Proceeds will be going to the VFW and Franklin Emergency Squad. 2121 Rt 57.

FattyCakes Food Market

The Famous Food Festival is a traveling organization that is bringing their beyond delicious goodies and works of art to the Lutze this weekend. Tickets can be purchased here. Take your cheat day and pig out from 2-10pm on Sunday. This event also runs on Saturday if you can't make it on Sunday. 3 2nd St.

PSPunk Party

PS Wine Bar is hosting PSPunk party, Jersey City's very own indie punk live music event. This event features Cicada Radio, Dead Bars, and Nervous Triggers. Come see the bands and stick around after for karaoke with a live DJ at 10pm. This event is free, 21+ and begins at 7pm. 193 Newark Ave.
