Need an escape from this cold, cold week? The weekend is almost here! (It has been a long week, hasn't it?) What better way to forget about that winter slump that spend your weekend hopping around all the best local spots and events around JC! Here are your top events to make this weekend a little less dreary!

Thursday, January 17th:

Murder at the Museum: LSC After Dark

Liberty Science Center is hosting their monthly After Dark event, and this one is not one to be missed! Bring out your inner blood splatter analyst and crime sleuth to solve the murder before the killer strikes again! Search for clues, have some fun, and don't forget to get a drink at the martini bar from 6-10pm. 222 Jersey City Blvd.

SMUSH Moves, Vol 5. at SMUSH Gallery

SMUSH is presenting an up-close and personal dance performance featuring some of Jersey City's own local preforming artists. This event will take place from 8-9pm, but get there early, doors open at 7:45! Tickets are $15 and $10 for students or artists, and can be purchased here. 340 Summit Ave.

Industry Thursdays at Red Lounge

Is your weekend starting early? Meeting up with some coworkers after hours? Red Lounge JC is hosting a DJ for their Industry Thursdays! Free entry and doors open at 9pm! 136 Newark Ave.

Friday, January 18th:

Baconfest at Zeppelin Hall

Zeppelin Hall is hosting their annual BACONFEST. Pick from 22 (YES 22!) different bacon items on the menu, and of course a wide variety of beer and drink options. Friday features live music and free bacon strips at the bar from 4 to 7pm! 88 Liberty View Dr.

Emo Night Karaoke at FM Restaurant & Bar

FM is hosting Emo Night Karaoke this Friday from 9pm to 1am! This event features a live band, and all of your favorite emo songs from middle school and beyond. Song sign-ups are a first come first serve basis and FM has even made their own Spotify playlist—check it out here. 340 3rd St.

The Latest Noise at Fox and Crow

Want to start your Friday off with some live music? Look no further than Fox and Crow! From 10pm to 12:30am come and listen to the Latest Noise… presenting Brendan Hartnett and Admission is free! 594 Palisade Ave.

Brewery Tasting at Jersey City Wine and Spirits

Who doesn't love to start their weekend off with some free wine or beer tastings? NO ONE! Join Jersey City Wine and Spirts and Flying Fish Brewing Company for a tasting that will be out of this world! Learn about new styles coming out from the brewery this year, and taste a few of the classics from 5-8pm. 492 Jersey Ave.

Saturday, January 19th:

Writers Workshop at WORD Bookstore

WORD Jersey City is throwing a creative writing class held by the Gotham Writers Workshop. This workshop is being led by Cullen Thomas, author of Brother Once Cell, and his works have been featured in the New York Times Magazine and the Washington Post. The event runs from 5-6pm and tickets can be purchased at 123 Newark Ave.

Print Party at Jersey City Art School

Trying to new things this month as your New Years Resolution? Come to the bi-monthly Print Party at Jersey City Art School! This class is open for both kids and adults, with no experience necessary and all materials are provided (and its BYOB)! This event runs from 4-8pm on Saturday at Jersey City Art School. 29 McWilliams Pl.

Meditation and Craft Workshop at Of Hand, Spirit and Earth Studio

Trying to feel less stressed this month? Finding your inner Zen? Look no further than this meditation and handcrafts workshop from 1-3:30pm. This 2-and-a-half-hour workshop is designed to help you cultivate your own inner tools to help reduce stress, not just for the day but for the whole year. After the meditation is a brief refreshment reception followed by a craft! Please bring your own yarn and knitting needles if you own them, or if you are brand new, learn from those around you! Fundraiser for Freedom Grow at McGinley Square Pub

McGinley Square Pub and Rokin Vapes is presenting a fundraiser for Freedom Grow. This non-profit support prisoner serving life sentences for non-violent, victimless cannabis related charges. There will be a raffle and prizes, from both sponsors. After the party, end the night with karaoke. The event runs from 8-midnight. 755 Montgomery St.

Sunday, January 20th:

Free Yoga Class in Lincoln Park

Get your workout in for the week on Sunday with a free yoga class! This class is open to all levels and beginners from 10:30-11:45am! The class is held in Hank Gallow Community Center in Lincoln Park. Be sure to bring your own mat and yoga props if you have any. Lincoln Park

Vintage Sale at Another Man's Treasure

Jazz Brunch at Atlas Public House

End your weekend with some soothing jazz at brunch. Enjoy some Latin Jazz, some cool drinks, and tasty food at Atlas Public House from 12-3pm. There is no cover, and the music will feature a vibraphone, bass, congas, and vocals. 130 Newark Ave.
