The first openings of 2019 are all restaurants, and some are familiar spots! Enjoy everything from gourmet coffee and breakfast sandwiches to big bowls of health to hot pots to tacos to craft cocktails. We hope you're hungry (and thirsty!).
Recently opened in the Cast Iron Lofts, Jersey Social is the new hot spot for foodies and cocktail lovers. Your taste buds are really in for a treat because helming the kitchen is Adin Langille, former executive chef at Michelin-starred Junoon, and the cocktail program is run by Hemant Pathak, the bar manager at Junoon. We can't wait to try everything on the menu—especially the candied bacon.

The owners of Buddy Who's opened up a Mexican restaurant next door just this week. The cozy space has tabletop and bar seating, and inviting south-of-the-border-inspired colors. The current menu is for launch and will be continue to be expanded as the weeks go on. 100 York St.
It was only a matter of time before the owners of Taqueria opened another restaurant where more people can fit in at one time (but who am I kidding—we're all willing to wait at Taqueria). The new place is significantly more spacious and has a similar festive yet vintage vibe. Expect more elevated, elaborate dishes at Los Cuernos, with delicious flavors that will keep you coming back.

Lucky for me, and the rest of Jersey City, my favorite Chinese restaurant from my hometown has just opened up in Newport. The expansive spot mostly features Chinese food, but also Hunan and Sichuan dishes. I hope you like spice because many of their dishes pack some heat.

This is the farm-to-table eatery's second JC location. They offer reasonably priced health food in a casual atmosphere. All the ingredients are sourced locally, so while it's a franchise, eating there means you're still supporting local farms and businesses. Plus, they have milkshakes if you don't want to be TOO healthy.

After being closed for a little over a year, waterfront restaurant Battello has finally reopened. It has the same rustic-romantic décor, high ceilings, and even a swanky lounge room in the back. The new menu has a variety of seafood, meat, and vegetarian options—and even gluten-free pasta. This is definitely the place to come for any romantic or celebratory occasion.

The Coffee Factory
Need a little more pep in your step? The Coffee Factory will give you the extra perk up you needed in the form of La Colombe coffee. Of course, you can expect to see coffee, tea, and espresso drinks on their menu, but their signature drink is a vanilla caramel latte (yum!). Grab a bite while you're there—they have bagels, assorted pastries (including vegan options), and sandwiches as well.
